Lake Wissota Gets A New Superintendent

The premier golf course in the Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire area just got even better. Lake Wissota is proud to announce Kris Woppert as our newest team member!

Kris Woppert joins the Lake Wissota Golf team as our new superintendent. He will be responsible for all grounds and maintenance work at Lake Wissota, including regular course maintenance and management of the grounds crew, as well all special projects and clubhouse maintenance. We are thrilled to have Kris’s passion and years of turf management experience on our team.

With over 15 years of golf course experience both on the course, as well as in the classroom teaching others, Kris brings a unique skill set and devotion to Lake Wissota. Look for him as the first one at the course every day!

We are very excited for what Kris has in store for the course this year! Please feel free to shoot him an email with any questions you might have or just to say hello. We look forward to sharing many insights from Kris, throughout the year, to educate you all on not just WHAT is happening on the golf course this year, but WHY!  For now, here are a few words from Kris that we wanted to share with you all:

“As a golf course superintendent, golf is a passion and has been an important part of my life. In my 15-year golf career, I’ve had the opportunity to travel the country learning many unique and innovative turf management practices. Some highlights of my career include working for a host course to the Symetra LPGA Tour and working as a Superintendent for the University of Illinois Orange & Blue Courses. I’ve also had the privilege to play golf along the way.

Teaching is a large part of my life and career. I spent the early part of my career at a Wisconsin special needs camp, working with blind and deaf children. Since then, I have worked with state universities on research projects and helped local high school horticulture students learn about turf management. I am excited for this new opportunity to combine my passions for golf, education and turf maintenance. It seems to be the best of all worlds.

I have been an outdoorsman my whole life. Other than golf, my hobbies include fishing, skiing, and outdoor activities. I’ve been skiing since childhood and I have taught in my local community. I live for early mornings and the many unforgettable sunrises. I look forward to this new career journey at Lake Wissota Golf.”
